About Me
My name is Cristella but my students call me Kristel.
I am from the Philippines though I call myself a citizen of the world. I love to travel and experience different culture as well as eating and trying out various cuisines. I like reading books and I find pleasure in continuous learning. I also enjoy watching movies from all genres cos I see a glimpse of a nation's culture in each of them. Listening to music, especially classical music, also calms my nerves while cooking helps me to de-stress as well as creating something.
I am a very well-rounded person and outgoing. However, I also enjoy just chilling in my place and doing nothing. It is my way of contemplating and I find comfort and peace in silence. I am naturally adventurous and I love listening to every individual's stories though I also enjoy and appreciate simple things in life. I believe that the world is my school and every human being, young or old, rich or poor, is my teacher. I am a free-spirited soul. I learn from my experiences and sharing my personal learnings gives me joy and satisfaction.
My Journey as a Teacher
I am a graduate of Education with a major in English and a licensed teacher in the Philippines. I have been teaching for over a decade in different countries and with various nationalities like Koreans, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese. While I was living in the Philippines back in 2008, I started teaching ESL to Korean nationals who went to Philippines to learn English . In 2014, I decided to go to Thailand where I lived for two years and taught English in a public school. In 2016, I moved to Vietnam and worked at Brilliant English, a Japanese owned English Center that caters to Japanese nationals wanting to learn and improve their English skills. In this center, I was trained to teach General English, Business English, TOEIC, and EIKEN. After some time in 2017, I moved to Asian International High School in Ho Chi Minh City where I taught Geography, History, TOEFL, Drama, Reading and Writing to all levels starting from grade 7 to grade 12. In 2019, I moved to another Bilingual School (Vietnamese American School System) where I taught English, Science, IELTS and lower level Maths from pre-school to High School. I also taught special subjects like Forensics and Biology to Grade 11 and 12.
I have a very extensive years of experience in teaching online and offline classes and very versatile in my job. I am very patient with my students and my end goal is always to help them improve and become confident in using the English language. It is my joy to see them succeed with all their endeavors knowing that somehow in some way, I am a part of their success. In teaching, I can be fun but also strict. I try to challenge my students to be better and aim higher.
For me, teaching has become my passion cos I enjoy sharing what I know with others. I find joy and fulfillment in helping a person become the best version of who they are.
